AI-Powered Crop Health Detection System

AI Crop Detection

A revolutionary agricultural technology that empowers farmers to detect pests and diseases in real time using AI and infrared sensor attachments for smartphones.

The Challenge

Farmers in Uganda face significant threats from crop pests like aphids and False codling moth, as well as fungal infections that often go undetected until it's too late.

Our Innovation
  • AI & Machine Learning trained on thousands of images
  • Infrared imaging for stress detection invisible to the naked eye
  • Offline functionality for rural environments
  • Multi-crop support for common African plants
Impact So Far
  • Piloted in multiple farming communities across Uganda
  • Over 50 farmers reached in early testing
  • 50% reduction in crop losses reported
  • Capacity building through digital agriculture training

Solar Dryer Project Innovation

Solar Dryer

A locally made solar dryer using recycled plastic materials that helps smallholder farmers safely dry and preserve crops, reducing post-harvest losses.

Why This Matters

In Uganda, significant agricultural produce is lost due to poor post-harvest handling. Traditional drying methods are unreliable and unhygienic.

Key Features
  • Uses recycled plastic, promoting circular economy
  • Cost-effective and locally replicable design
  • Preserves food quality and safety
  • Empowers rural farmers, especially youth and women
Project Highlights
  • Designed and built by young local innovators
  • Eco-friendly solution using indigenous knowledge
  • Currently piloting in selected communities
  • Ready for scaling across Uganda
